Mira Kim

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Mira Kim holds a BFA in painting and sculpture from the renowned Hongik University, where she developed a strong foundation in traditional techniques and innovative approaches to art.

Her early artistic influences came from her family: her father, a calligrapher with a deep appreciation for art and literature, filled their home with books on art history and artists, inspiring her own passion. Observing her father’s calligraphy and her mother’s work in embroidery and quilting, she found herself captivated by the artistic process, eventually leading her to oil painting.

Primarily an Impressionist with touches of Expressionism, Mira’s work focuses on capturing the interplay of light and shadow as it shapes form, shade, and presence, revealing a unique beauty in each fleeting moment. Her themes span nature, still life, and figures—subjects that allow her to weave her thoughts and emotions into each piece.

Currently, Mira is active in exhibitions with groups such as KAAW and Harmony of Color, and her work was recently featured at Young Gallery in Edmonds.

As both an artist and teacher, she runs MK Art Studio, where she teaches and curates student group exhibitions, sharing her passion and vision with a new generation of artists.
